Eighteen figurative artists wear their hearts on their sleeves in “A Figurative Affair,” which opens with a reception on First Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5 – 9 p.m.. There will be live music by Scott Stobbe and Jaymes Kirksey and refreshments. The show, curated by Susan Hancey and Sefla Joseph will feature works by painters Barbara Bartels, Carol Bowie, Linda Christensen, Lois Cole, Barbara Downs, David Fleming, T.A. Greene, Susan Hancey, Stephanie Heit, Carol Jeneid, Sefla Joseph, Marvin Plummer, Andrew Purchin and Cher Roberts, and sculptors Rob Blitzer, Irwin Kaplan, Lila Klapman and Lisa Silas. Each artist in their ow way invokes a distinct voice, using the figure to explore human nature. Together the works represent a wide spectrum of styles and form a compelling presence. The show will run through February 25.
