The exhibition features large geometrically themed acrylic paintings by Ralph Joachim and large scale abstract steel sculpture by Marilyn Kuksht.Ralph Joachim was an attorney for over thirty-three years until he and his wife retired to Santa Cruz. After becoming involved with the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center he began to spend more time on his art. His work attempts to appeal to the viewer’s imagination, sense of design and visual harmony. Metal sculptor Marilyn Kuksht, whose “Virgin Moon” was displayed at the intersection of Front and Pacific in downtown Santa Cruz, draws in space with steel. She explains, “The individual pieces of metal are like notes of music that can be intellectually orchestrated or intuitively improvised to communicate directly with our imagination and emotions.”
